Classic Window Coverings was established 1988 as a small, independently owned window treatment business in Central Oregon. In 2006, we opened Central Oregon’s first and only Hunter Douglas Gallery, a 2,000 square foot showroom located in Bend. Since then, our offering has expanded to include automated shading systems, as well as a wide variety of exterior shading solutions via our sister company, Shade on Demand, co-located with our Gallery showroom.

As of mid-2022, Classic Window Coverings is under new leadership. Joseph Gymrek, formerly of Maui, brings many years of experience with the sales and installation of custom flooring and window coverings. After moving to Central Oregon in 2019, he joined Classic Window Coverings to lead the installation department, and in June 2022, he purchased the business and now serves as general manager.

The team at Classic Window Coverings includes experienced sales, installation, and showroom support staff.

• Carrie Steele, who joined the company in 2007, leads the interior window coverings sales department and has become one of the leading Hunter Douglas design consultants in the nation, helping customers overcome window covering challenges in their home or business.
• Troy Williams, who joined the company in 2014, leads the exterior shading solutions sales department, and helps customers find the best solutions for shading their patios and windows from among the company’s vast offering. In the office, our sales assistants help customers with product selection in the Gallery and schedule FREE in-home design consultations.
• Our project coordinators ensure that your window coverings or exterior shading project runs smoothly and that you are kept informed of expected ship dates, installation dates, and any schedule changes.
• And in the field, our professional installers provide best-in-class installation services and warranty support.

Meet the Owner - Joseph Gymrek

Joseph has had window coverings in his blood from a young age, starting in high school as an installer in the family's drapery and upholstery business in Maui. After High School, Joseph attended UC-Santa Cruz, majored in Arts, and minored in business. During that time Joseph was a production manager at a local glass studio, creating limited edition etched "float" glass art for boutique galleries and high-end stores such as Saks Fifth Ave. His true passion was in glassblowing, but unfortunately establishing a large scale studio was not in the cards at the time. Alternatively, he redirected his passion for glass into small scale glass jewelry and accent pieces. Returning to Maui in 2002, he continued working in sales and installation for the family business, which had grown to include other interior and exterior window coverings, specializing in motorization. Here, Joseph advanced his installation skills and went on to become an independent installer at Lahaina's premier Hunter Douglas Gallery, Lahaina Carpet and Interiors, for 7+ years while still maintaining his relations with other local designers.

In 2019, looking for a good place to raise his young son, he moved to Bend and became the lead installer for Classic Window Coverings. With over 20 years of experience as an installer, Joseph was wondering what was next, did he want to continue to be a 9-5 kind of worker or was there something more in store for him to accomplish? Then, in 2022, Classic Window Coverings became available for purchase. Excited, Joseph jumped on the opportunity to buy a business with such history and longevity in the market, especially a company with great potential to become an even stronger contributor to the community.

Outside of work, Joseph enjoys spending time in the outdoors with his son and their dog, "Sunday," a Blue Dapple Dachshund. They enjoy snowmobiling, snowboarding, boating and crabbing, to name a few of their favorite activities. Joseph's desire to own and operate Classic Window Coverings is driven by wanting to be a small, successful, locally owned business, while sharing his vision for success with his team, and becoming part of the fabric of the community. And the ultimate driving force . . . "My life is my son. I want him to be proud of me for giving back."

Meet the Gallery Greeters

Meet Rob's dog, Lily, a 6-year-old Border Collie-Healer mix. Lily is originally from Texas, so now, instead of chasing cattle around a farm, she chases squirrels in the mountains. When she catches the squirrels, she doesn't attack them, she just tries to play with them. "If I can't bring my dog, then I probably don't want to go (this was one of the reasons that I took this job at Classic Window Coverings -- being able to bring Lily into work was a great perk). She is completely obsessed with playing fetch, and she will train people to throw the ball for her. It is impressive; people will throw the ball for her without even realizing that they are doing it.

Meet Joseph's dog, Sunday, an 18-month-old Blue Dapple Dachshund. "Sunny" is native to central Oregon, demands and loves to be wherever Joseph may be. He looks forward to days at the Gallery welcoming guests with bark or lick, chasing reflections, and often harassing Lily to play a game of tug. Even more so he loves all the attention he receives from all the team members and guests. When Joseph is out in the field you will always find Sunny by his side or patiently waiting in the van for Josephs return. When not at work, Sunday loves taking the lead on the trails or investigating the catch of the day....
